Casa de Pico was best known for their Old Town location that was opened in 1971 by Diane Powers. When the lease was up in 2005 they relocated to the Grossmont Center in La Mesa. At such a prominent location, it’s no wonder why it was so crowded when we held the bUZZ Night there. Walking into this establishment felt like I was entering a true Mexican hacienda. The entire building is decked out in Mexican paraphernalia, the servers in full traditional uniforms, and the wandering mariachis enhanced the experience to the fullest.

A favorite of mine. Good food and famous margaritas! They have mariachis also!

Loved it in Old Town, love it in La Mesa.

Highlights:
Awesome food
Delicious and strong drinks
Great patio
Fast service
Fun happy hour atmosphere
Grossmont Center mall is very close so you can walk off your Margarita buzz

If you love good Mexican food, get your butt out to La Mesa and try Casa.

My friend and I decided to do lunch here yesterday- my first time. I am gluten and lactose intolerant and found them to not only be delicious, but SUPER knowledgable about what was in their food.  We ate outside on the adorable patio and felt like we had excaped to some Mexican resort for lunch. Food was amazing, service was awesome! As we walked out, my girlfriend stated that it felt like we were being” transplanted” suddenly back into grossmont, that’s how fun and great the experience being in this restaurant was. Thank you for another fun and ambiancy place to go! Will def recommend. 🙂

I’m not a BIG HUGE fan of Mexican b/c where I am from there isn’t as much influence of Mexican Food in Winnipeg and Calgary Canada but having a Puerto Rican Hubby I have started to enjoy the food and when I saw the reviews on this restaurant I HAD to go!  It is so far the BEST Mexican restaurant I have ever been too!

When you first walk in, sometimes there is a girl who makes fresh tortillas…

To start off you get a huge basket of fresh tortilla chips and yummy salsa. If you know me I don’t eat a lot of tomatoes… but it def has kick.  I ordered Horrchatta???  It’s a mexican rice milk which I have fallen in love with

The first time we went, we ordered an appie… FYI.  You don’t need to order an appie as the meals are huge. We had a “small” order of Chicken Taquitos.  I didn’t know small was 15 pcs smothered with cheese

I forgot what the hubby had but I had the SEAFOOD CHIMICHANGA  omg  this is to die for!!!! I was in love!  It was soooooooooooooooo good.   Huge pieces of cod and plump shrimp based in flavourful seasonings with onions, tomatoes and green peppers…  topped with jalapeno cheese sauce ( kinda like hollanadaise and not spicy at all)

This came with beans, rice and a salad.  I got 2 orders of rice ( not a fan of beans)

For dessert, I had the popular Mexican Deep Fried Ice Cream.   All in all I was happy and I’ve been back already!
